History of our Vineyard - The Crying Vine

The Crying Vine

This process occurs right after the vegetative resting phase of the vine, between the end of winter and the beginning of spring.

Due to the worsening of global warming over the years, this process has become increasingly earlier, and after 2 or 3 weeks the first shoots of the vines will appear.

Having said this, after also 2 or 3 weeks from the beginning of spring, the foliage and branches start to appear on the vines again.

But before the sprouting process, pruning is done to reduce the number of bunches, so that they have a higher concentration of sugar and aromas.

This is done so that, before the pruned branches of the grapevine heal and new ones appear, there is an emptying of the sap, which may reach up to 1 liter, daily. Hence, the name "Cry of the Vine". The aim of this process is, as always, to try and increase the quality of the wine as much as possible.
