The international recognition of Beira Interior wines continues to grow. In the 2026 edition of the prestigious Best of Portugal competition, organized by the renowned Swiss Vinum Magazine (@vinummmagazin) in Zurich, the Souvall Project achieved a historic milestone by winning 4 Silver Medals.
The event, which evaluated around 390 Portuguese wines, highlighted the excellence and unique identity of Portugal’s high-altitude wines. Among the panel of judges and industry experts, the four references submitted by Souvall earned outstanding scores in both the white and red blend categories.Souvall's Scores of Excellence
The consistency and contemporary profile of our portfolio were reflected in the scores of the award-winning vintages:
- Souvall Parcela VillaMayor Grande Reserva Branco 2023 (89 Points): Praised by the jury for its pronounced notes of well-integrated oak, caramel, spices, and a vibrant acidity that gives it tremendous personality.
- Vale dos Ladroens Garrafeira Tinto 2022 (88 Points): Stood out for its extremely elegant, Burgundy-inspired style, featuring notes of ripe red fruit and a fresh, harmonious finish.
- Souvall Grande Reserva Tinto 2021 (88 Points): A vibrant, medium-bodied red wine with dark fruit aromas, hints of dark chocolate, and elegant tannins.
- Souvall Branco Reserva 2024 (86 Points): A modern wine, highly expressive on the nose, with exotic notes and a crisp acidity that makes it exceptionally gastronomic and versatile.
Consolidating Beira Interior in the Export Market
This achievement in Switzerland—one of the most demanding international markets and one that deeply values the typicity of Portuguese wines—validates our commitment to high-altitude viticulture and the region’s indigenous grape varieties, such as Síria, Arinto, Baga, and Touriga Nacional.
